Eyebrow Transplant

The most exacting procedure in hair restoration: every graft a single hair, placed almost flat to the skin and angled to follow the natural fan of the brow.

Eyebrow transplants rebuild brows thinned by over-plucking, scarring, alopecia or age, using single hairs placed almost flat to the skin.

Eyebrow work is the most technically exacting procedure in hair restoration. Every graft is a single hair, the angle is nearly parallel to the skin, and the direction changes continuously from the inner head of the brow to the outer tail.

What makes it demanding

  • Only single-hair grafts are used, typically 150 to 400 per brow
  • Placement angle is almost flat against the skin surface
  • Direction fans upward at the head, horizontally through the body, downward at the tail
  • Scalp hair grows continuously, so brows need regular trimming afterwards
  • Symmetry between the two sides must be designed, not assumed
Trimming is part of the dealTransplanted eyebrow hair comes from your scalp and retains scalp growth behaviour, meaning it keeps growing rather than stopping at brow length. You will need to trim your brows roughly every two to three weeks, permanently.

Who it suits

  • Brows thinned by years of plucking or waxing
  • Scarring from injury, surgery or burns
  • Congenitally sparse brows
  • Loss following stable alopecia areata, once quiescent
  • Men wanting a stronger, more defined brow shape

Active alopecia areata, unstable thyroid disease or ongoing trichotillomania need to be addressed medically before surgery is considered.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to trim transplanted eyebrows?

Yes, permanently. The grafts come from your scalp and keep scalp growth behaviour, so they grow longer than native brow hair. Most men trim every two to three weeks. It takes seconds once it becomes habit.

How many grafts does each brow need?

Typically 150 to 400 per brow depending on how much existing hair remains and the shape you want. Both brows are always treated together to ensure symmetry.

Will it look natural?

When single-hair grafts are placed at the correct flat angle and fanned direction, yes. Poor eyebrow work is almost always the result of grafts placed too upright, which makes hairs stand away from the skin.

How long is recovery?

Tiny crusts form for around five to seven days. Most men are presentable within a week. Transplanted hairs shed at two to six weeks and regrow from month three, with the final result at around nine to twelve months.
