Overseas hair transplants are cheaper for real reasons, and some clinics abroad do excellent work. The question is what you are buying, not just what you are paying.
We see a steady stream of men who travelled abroad and are happy with the result. We also see a steady stream who need repair work. This guide sets out the differences honestly so you can decide for yourself.

If you are going abroad anyway
That is a legitimate choice. These are the questions worth asking before you book.
- Will a qualified surgeon perform the extraction and implantation, or technicians?
- Can you name the surgeon, and can I see their registration?
- How many patients are treated per day per team?
- What exactly happens if growth is poor at twelve months, in writing?
- Who provides aftercare once I am back in the UK?
- What is the graft count, and is it grafts or hairs?

Frequently asked questions
Are Turkish hair transplants bad?
No. Turkey has genuinely excellent clinics alongside high-volume operations that treat many patients a day with limited surgeon involvement. The variance is enormous, which makes research far more important than it would be at home.
Why is it so much cheaper abroad?
Lower staff costs, lower overheads, high patient volume and, in many cases, technicians rather than surgeons performing most of the procedure. Some of the saving is genuine economics; some of it reflects a different model of care.
What happens if something goes wrong after I fly home?
This is the central issue. Most packages provide remote support only. Complications, infection or poor growth are far easier to manage when someone can examine your scalp in person within days.
Can a UK clinic fix work done abroad?
Often, yes, though it depends on how much donor supply remains. Angle and design errors are usually correctable; severe donor depletion limits options. See our repair page.
What should I compare?
The total cost including flights, accommodation and time off work, against the UK figure. Then compare who operates, what aftercare is included and what recourse exists. Compare packages, not headline prices.
